Before we fall asleep tonight,

There are some things I’d like to say,

About what I’d do, just to be with you,

On any given day.

 

I’d hop across a river of crocodiles,

I’d jump from nose to nose.

They’d wriggle and snap, and they’d try to trap,

My tiny wiggly toes.

 

I’d sail across a storm swept ocean,

Tucked up in a little tin boat.

The winds would blow, and the waves would grow,

But for you I would stay afloat.

One dark Christmas Eve,

By the fire on a mat,

A creature sat purring—

A white Ragdoll cat.

 

This feline was restless,

For try as she might,

She couldn’t contain

Her excitement tonight.

 

And when it struck midnight,

She raced off at pace,

Then nestled in close

To a little girl’s face.

 

The girl wriggled over

And tiredly said,

“Oh, Furball, I’m sleeping,

Please get off my head!”

Old Biggins sat high in his favourite place,

Above all the trees with the sun on his face,

A rather strange place for a badger to be,

But all the best paint-sheds are built in a tree.

 

And there he would gladly spend many a day

In Woodrington Forest, just painting away.

He painted the trees and the wide rolling hills,

The sunbeams and streams with his marvellous skills.

 

Today was no different. The breeze calm and still.

So Biggins created and painted, until…

 

He heard a few snorts and some burps from below,

So set down his brushes and muttered, “Oh, no!”

For Tree Trolls were plotting a monstrous scheme,

Which made Biggins shiver and stifle a scream.

Old Captain Mildew was stroking his beard,

For nights such as these were what all pirates feared.

Waves bigger than buildings, and hail pouring down,

One clumsy wrong turn and somebody could drown.

 

““Hold fast!” Mildew shouted, and “Steady!” he cried,

As bravely he battled the strength of the tide,

Then with a loud bump and the mightiest splash,

The hull hit some rocks, and the huge ship went - CRASH!

 

Old Mildew thought quickly. “I must stay afloat!”

So swiftly he climbed into a small rowing boat.

He seized at the oars, and he started to row,

And bobbed through the waves with his toucan in tow.

In a faraway forest

So lush and so green,

Lived the cutest hobgoblin

You’ll ever have seen.

 

With two big round eyes,

And a small button nose,

And long auburn hair,

Held in two dainty bows.

 

But young Bobby Goblin,

She liked to explore,

And always found trouble

Till Dad cried, “No more!”

 

“You’ll have to stay home

For I just cannot see,

How I can take someone

Like you out with me!”

Which one would you choose

From this timeless debate,

A cat or a dog

As your very best mate?

 

Well, here comes a tale

From a small seaside town,

To settle the question

Of who wins the crown.

 

For in this small town

Nestled close by the sea,

Lived some cats and some dogs

Who just couldn’t agree.

 

A line through the town

Showed where each side could go,

And daily they fought

Through sunshine and snow.
